A low pressure (LPA) off the coast east of Visayas has intensified into a tropical depression on Tuesday morning and has been named “Ramon,” the state-run weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) last spotted the LPA at 835 kilometers southeast of Virac, Catanduanes. It packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was moving westward at a speed of 20 kph.
