ANTONIO CONTRERAS

IT PROBABLY started as a bluff. Or perhaps President Rodrigo Duterte was simply fed up with the incessant criticism from Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo of his war on drugs. So, out of exasperation, he simply caved in to what would have been an irrational and ill-conceived urge. It was almost like someone who, having failed to do something right and facing a barrage of criticisms, just simply told these critics to take over and dared them to do the difficult job knowing that they, too, would not succeed. This is a typical mindset of someone who in the face of failure just had had it, and threw a tantrum.
