PBA Board elects Vargas chairman anew

 

TNT KaTropa Team Governor Ricky Vargas was reelected chairman of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) during the regular board meeting of the PBA at its Libis, Quezon City office on Thursday.

“The board knows why he was reelected again as chairman because it is good for the league. He was instrumental on why the board is united,”PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial told The Manila Times on Friday.

Vargas was first elected PBA chairman in the 2006-2007 season and was elected anew in December 2017 prior to the opening of the 43rd season, and then reelected again the following season.

Vargas is also former president of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the current president of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines.

Other elected officers were Columbian Dyip’s Bobby Rosales as vice chairman and Blackwater’s Silliman Sy as treasurer. Lawyer Melvin Mendoza, the board’s long-time secretary and legal counsel, has retained his post.
