Otake bests rivals in interschool golf meet

Masaichi Otake of De La Salle Zobel ruled the seniors division of the 2019 Interschool Golf Championship after six rounds of competition recently.

Otake finished with 216 points followed by Jolo Timothy Magcalayo with 214 and Perry Josef Bucay of Xavier School with 211.

Meanwhile, the Junior High division was topped by Zachary Castro with 210 points.

Koreans Rhi Hyun Ho (202) and Tae Won Kim (201) finished second and third, respectively.

Celine Abalos of Poveda posted 203 points to win the overall crown in the middle school (MS) division.

Shinichi Suzuki of Saint Francis carded 200 points to dominate the boys’ side of the MS division. Armand Copok of British School Manila (199) and Bhuvas Nagpal of BSM (198) finished second and third, respectively.

In the lower school category, Francesca Nicole Gan of Immaculate Concepcion Academy bagged the overall plum after finishing with a 190.

Ahn Chan of Ateneo Cebu topped the men’s lower school division with a 172. Kyle Ng of BSM (166) and Race Phoenix Manhit of Ateneo de Manila (164), finished second and third, respectively.

De La Salle Zobel was named School of the Year.

The Interschool Championship is the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines’ cornerstone grassroots development program that aims to promote golf and encourage more schools to participate in the junior interschool event.
