THE Philippines struck three gold medals in the obstacle course racing to jumpstart its Day 4 campaign in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) on Wednesday morning at the Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
The Filipino obstacle quartet of Kyle Antolin, Kaizen Dela Serna, Monolito Divina and Deanne Nicole Moncada ruled the mixed team assist 400m x 12, timing in 3:49.37 in the first heat and 3:48.35 in the second heat to beat Malaysia.
Rozlan Mohd Redha, Mohd Pittli Mohd Saddam, Yip Hui Teng and Tan Jie Yi tallied 4:40.72 in heat 1 and 4:29.28 in heat 2.
The PH squad of Diana Buhler, Jeffrey Reginio, Klymille Rodriguez and Nathaniel Sanchez then emerged victorious in the mixed team relay 400m x 12 with clockings of 2:00.92 in heat 1 and 1:59.56 in heat 2.
They also beat Malaysia composed of Rozlan, Tan, Yoong Wei Theng and Mohd Drus Salfarina, who tallied 2:05.38 in heat 1 and 2:01.68 in heat 2.
The Philippines notched a 1-2 finish in the women’s individual 100m x 10 as Rochelle Suarez downed compatriot Milky Mae Mijares.
Suarez hit 47.02 in heat 1 and 46.70 in heat 2, outpacing Mijares’ 49.14 in heat 1 and 47.88 in heat 2.
The men’s individual 100m x 10 is ongoing.
