Competent acting in ‘Write About Love’

If there’s one big reason why movie aficionados should watch the entry “Write About Love” come December 25 and during the entire run of the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival, it is because of competent acting of its main cast, namely Rocco Nacino, Miles Ocampo, Joem Bascon and Yeng Constantino.

Rocco wants to remind people that he is an actor to reckon with in this movie, something that was first noticed in the award-winning movie “Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” for which he won Breakthrough Performance by an Actor from the Golden Screen Awards.

In “Write About Love,” Rocco is perfect for his role as the brooding indie scriptwriter trying to work on a new script with Miles, who in turns plays a newbie mainstream writer.

He displays sensitivity as an actor in many scenes and you’d love his performance. We’ve always believe that Rocco is a very good actor and he proved it here in “Write About Love.”

Miles, on the other hand, is no pushover either since she matched Rocco’s intensity from start to finish. They have palpable chemistry that works beautifully. Both are in the zone.

The same thing can be said about Yeng Constantino and Joem Bascon who portray the characters in the script being revised by Rocco and Miles. You can feel their pain and longing for the one they love.

“Write About Love” has a well-written script about the intricacies of being in love and we are pretty sure that many viewers can relate to the story and the challenges that the characters go through in their love journey.

Produced by TBA Productions, it is directed by Crisanto Aquino (“Shake Rattle and Roll Fourteen: The Invasion,” 2012; “My Rebound Girl,” 2016; and “The Ghost Bride,” 2017).

With the victory of Judy Ann Santos as Best Actress at the 41st Cairo International Film Festival for “Mindanao,” many are saying that the beautiful wife of Ryan Agoncillo will most likely win the Best Actress trophy in the forthcoming Metro Manila Film Festival too.

Her win in Cairo installed Juday as heavy favorite to win the Best Actress plum. This should not come as a surprise, knowing Juday’s caliber as an actress.

But Juday says, more than the possible award that might come her way, the fact that she was able to do a significant project like “Mindanao” is a big honor for her. We are sure though that no one would raise an eyebrow in case Juday wins as Best Actress.
