DANIELA Dela Pisa, an ovarian cancer survivor, added a gold medal to the Philippines’ haul after topping the individual hoops event of the women’s rhythmic gymnastics in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) on Saturday morning at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Dela Pisa topscored with 17.750 points to beat Malaysian bets Amzan Izzah (16.500) and Kwan Amy Dict Weg (15.900).
Dela Pisa also snagged the bronze in the ball event.
She is still competing in the clubs and will particpate in the ribbon later.
In an interview during the Palarong Pambansa 2018, Dela Pisa’s mother Darlene bared that her daughter was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was just four years old.
