PH downs Vietnam, cruises to 2-0 in men’s basketball

JUNE Mar Fajardo racked up 23 points and 12 rebounds as Gilas Pilipinas cruised to its second straight win after beating Vietnam, 110-69, on Friday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball competition at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Vietnam put up some resistance  at the start before the Philippines, which handily defeated Singapore on Wedneaday,  surged ahead to post an 80-57 lead at the end of the third period.
The undefeated Filipinos controlled the game the rest of the way defensively and offensively for a 2-0 start in Group A.

Philippine Coach Tim Cone said they would play the right way against Myanmar.
“We are not going to embarrass anyone here. We will play the proper way,” said Cone.
