JUNE Mar Fajardo racked up 23 points and 12 rebounds as Gilas Pilipinas cruised to its second straight win after beating Vietnam, 110-69, on Friday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball competition at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Vietnam put up some resistance at the start before the Philippines, which handily defeated Singapore on Wedneaday, surged ahead to post an 80-57 lead at the end of the third period.
The undefeated Filipinos controlled the game the rest of the way defensively and offensively for a 2-0 start in Group A.

Vic Manuel and LA Tenorio finished with 14 points each while Troy Rosario added 12 points.
Stanley Pringle had 11 points and Greg Slaughter made 10 points also for Team Philippines.
Christopher William Dierker led Vietnam with 28 points and nine rebounds.
Philippines faces Myanmar on Saturday at 8 p.m. also at the MOA.
Philippine Coach Tim Cone said they would play the right way against Myanmar.
“We are not going to embarrass anyone here. We will play the proper way,” said Cone.
