JBC to grill high court applicants

 

THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) will start interviewing on Monday the candidates for associate justice of the Supreme Court.

The JBC set public interviews on December 9 and December 18. The candidate to be chosen by President Rodrigo Duterte will fill in the post vacated by Diosdado Peralta when he was named chief justice.

To be interviewed on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, are Court of Appeals Justices Ramon Cruz and Eduardo Peralta.


On December 18, CA Justices Samuel Gaerlan, Jhosep Lopez, Pablito Perez, Maria Filomena Singh and Ernesto Perez will be quizzed.

The other candidates who have been interviewed are CA Justices Oscar Badelles, Manuel Barrios, Ramon Bato, Apolinario Bruselas, Ramon Garcia and Ricardo Rosario.

Also in the running for the post are Supreme Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang.

The JBC will submit a shortlist of candidates to the Office of the President. President Duterte will then choose from the list. JOMAR CANLAS
