WITH one day still to go before the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games concludes tomorrow, December 11, Team Philippines is already assured of emerging mathematically at the top of Southeast Asia’s premier sports competition by winning the most gold medals and the most medals.

If this is borne out officially at the games’ end, this would be a splendid achievement indeed by the nation’s athletes and sports associations. It would redeem the Philippines’ good name and honor in Asean sports, following its perennially dismal finish in the more recent stagings of the SEA Games for over a decade now.
