Veteran winger OJ Porteria lauded Ceres Negros FC’s grit in pulling off a 3-2 victory over Shan United FC of Myanmar in the first stage of the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League preliminary round on Tuesday night before a sizeable crowd at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Porteria, Robert Lopez Mendy and Bienvenido Marañon struck a goal apiece but the domestic champion Yellow Busmen needed to repel the Shan Warriors’ late uprising to barge into the next qualifying phase of Asia’s top club tournament.
