Who says our kids today are too busy with their gadgets and games? Children from the City of Muntinlupa are seeking to break the stereotype of their current generation by engaging in community activities, making life significantly better for other people in the process. “Giving something back to the community is something we can all do, even kids. Volunteering and contributing can help families learn about their community, as well as develop a respect and understanding for different people and lifestyles. Not to mention the shared sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in having helped someone in need,” said Franc Andre Dimatatac, an official delegate to the recent World AIDS Day event and son of City Health Official Dr. Edwin Dimatatac.

The younger Dimatatac recently took part together with his peers and with City Government officials led by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi in several social projects meant to uplift specific members of the community. These include a rice distribution activity for senior citizens of Intercity Homes and a medical mission in the same location. The children later took part in an activity organized by the Guardian Angels of America Foundation (GAAF), distributing toys to the Pediatric Ward patients of Ospital ng Muntinlupa, as well as other gift-giving activities in the recent Christmas season. When asked why he chose to be involved in community-building activities, Dimatatac replied, “Having a public servant father, I am exposed to various public services. At the young age of 7, my parents would volunteer me and my sister to charity works. I would always spend my summer and christmas vacation as a volunteer.”
