Sustaining her brilliance from a victorious opener, Filipino teen sensation Alex Eala trounced Julie Belgraver of France, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1, and advanced to the round of 16 in the 2020 Australian Open junior girls’ tournament on Tuesday morning at the Melbourne Park.
Eala, ranked No. 8 in the world and seeded fourth in the Grand Slam season-opening tourney, capitalized on her break point chances and unforced errors of the No. 57 Belgraver to pull off her second victory in one hour and 23 minutes.
