Biggest gathering of key leaders from Megaworld Group, Emperador, Travellers International, McDonald’s Philippines, and Infracorp discusses programs to address UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030
For the very first time, companies under the Andrew Tan-led Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI) came together to affirm their commitment to sustainability in a summit dubbed as “SustainAGility: The Alliance Global Group Conference on Sustainability” held at Hilton Manila at Newport City in Pasay City.
During the program, AGI chief executive officer Kevin L. Tan challenged the various companies to come up with different sustainability initiatives, particularly those focused on responding to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among the speakers who graced Cusi of the Department of Energy (DoE); Sen. Pia Cayetano; Emmanuel Rubio, president and CEO, Aboitiz Power Corporation; Maria Luz Javier, local network representative and chairperson, Global Contact Local Network of the UN Global Compact; Atty. Rachel Esther Gumtang Remalante, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the corporate governance and finance department, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and Engr. Erik Christianto of Standard & Poor’s Global.
During the afternoon session, the presidents and heads of the various AGI companies, led by Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, chief operating officer, Megaworld; Winston L. Co, director and president, Emperador; Kingson U. Sian, president and CEO, Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc.; and Margot B. Torres, managing director of Golden Arches Development Corporation, discussed their companies’ programs and activities to respond to the different sustainability goals.
The summit was highlighted by a commitment ceremony led by AGI chairman Dr. Andrew L. Tan and AGI director and treasurer Katherine L. Tan.
