Student dies, 7 others injured in road accident in Makati


A 14-year-old student died and seven others were wounded after tjey were hit by a jeepney in Makati City on Wednesday night.

Police identified the fatality as Jules Villapando, 13, and a student of Gen. Pio Del Pilar National High School.

According to investigators, the injured, mostly aged 13-17, were brought to the Ospital ng Makati and Makati Medical Center.

Initial investigation showed  that the students, who were on their way home, were crossing a pedestrian lane on J.P. Rizal in Barangay Poblacion at about 7:20 p.m. when the jeep appeared and plowed through them.

Police identified the driver as Crisalde Tamparo, 31, and a resident of Zamboanga del Sur.

Tamparo is now detained at the Makati City Police Station and will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple physical injuries.
