Region 2 no longer ASF-free, says DA


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela: Incidence of African swine fever (ASF) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) has been confirmed, particularly in Isabela province, according to the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 2 (DA-RFO2) .

Narciso Edillo, DA-RFO2 executive director, on Friday said laboratory tests by the DA’s Cagayan Valley Integrated Agricultural Laboratory (CVIAL) showed positive results.

He added that test samples were taken from the towns of Mallig and Quirino in Isabela province and that they are now working closely with the barangay (village), town and provincial governments, Bureau of Animal Industry and National Meat Inspection Service.

Region 2 comprises the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and the island province of Batanes.
