THE Trojan Horse is probably the most popular inanimate figure in Greek mythology. It ended the Trojan War, that epic mess that ensued after Paris of Troy took the famed beauty Helen from her husband, King Menelaus of Sparta. The crafty Odysseus, who fought on the side of the Greeks, thought about building a giant wooden horse that would carry warriors inside. The Greeks faked their retreat and presented the loaded horse as a peace offering to Troy. The unsuspecting Trojans opened their city gates and had the horse wheeled inside. When most of them were already wasted from their victory party, the Greek troops emerged from the horse to butcher them.
