Second seed Manila leaned on ex-pro Carlo Lastimosa to outlast No. 7 Pasig-Sta. Lucia, 91-88, while third seed Makati turned to Jhong Baloria to escape No. 6 Bulacan, 94-88, in their best-of-three quarterfinal series opener of the league backed by Chooks to Go.
