THE Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) admitted that only the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) had the authority to “discuss matters related to maritime schools” as it denied reports that it prematurely unveiled a list of schools that would be shut down.

“Allow us to set the record straight that the Marina, from the very beginning, has continually emphasized that the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) is the only proper authority to discuss matters related to maritime schools. The information stated on those articles were not publicly pronounced, volunteered, nor were given to any media outlet,” the agency said on its Facebook page.
