ALTHOUGH the surprise eruption of the Taal Volcano in January caused widespread displacement and disruption in several southern Luzon provinces, business operations in economic zones managed by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority were not affected, PEZA Director-General Charito Plaza assured the public recently.

That may come as a surprise, because the Calabarzon region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces) was the region most seriously impacted by the volcano and also has the highest concentration of economic zone activity in the country.
