THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority is one of the government agencies at the forefront of climate preparedness and environmental sustainability, and under Director-General Charito Plaza has launched a number of initiatives to paint all 379 of the country’s economic zones green.
In order to protect and conserve environmental quality in the economic zones, PEZA has conceptualized a complete eco-industrial framework, which includes a number of goals: Efficient environmental management; smart management of waste and waste water; management of hazardous waste; promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy; improved process efficiency by industries in terms of environmental impact; full compliance with national and global environmental standards and best practices; and conservation of natural resources.
