THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) announced on Wednesday that visits to inmates in at least three regions were suspended to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Chief Insp. Xavier Solda, BJMP spokesman, said.
Solda said these are in the Ilocos Region, Davao Region and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The BJMP has 42 jail facilities in Metro Manila.
In Central Luzon, visits to inmates in jails in Bulacan, Angeles District Jail Male and Female Dormitories in Pampanga, Cabanatuan City District Jail, Talavera Municipal Jail and San Jose City District Jail in Nueva Ecija, were also temporarily suspended.
In Mimaropa or Region 4-A, visits were suspended in jails in Cavite; Cainta, Binangonan and Antipolo in Rizal; Cabuyao, Calamba and San Pablo in Laguna.
Mimaropa is Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan. DARWIN PESCO
