No plant shutdown during summer, DoE orders

THE Department of Energy (DoE) has issued a policy prohibiting the maintenance shutdown of power plants and transmission facilities in the summer months to ensure energy security of the Philippines, during the season.

“Ang ginawa natin, hindi lang natin sinabi na i-publish lang, sinabi din natin na bawal magmaintain ng mga planta in the second quarter except for hydropower plants (What the DoE did was we required generation companies to submit their scheduled maintenance outage and enjoined them from undertaking maintenance of power plants in the second quarter except for those operating hydropower plants),” DoE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella said on Tuesday.
