Top Filipino cue artists Johann Chua and Carlo Biado lead the cast of local pool players set to compete in the 2020 Predator World 10-Ball Championship slated March 16 to 20 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Chua and Biado, the Philippines’ No. 1 (world No. 13) and No. 2 (world No. 15) pool players based on the World Pool-Billard Association (WPA) men’s rankings, will see action in the $100,000 tournament along with three other Filipino players.
James Aranas (world No. 31), Jeffrey Ignacio (No. 34) and Jeffrey De Luna (No. 53) will also participate in the tilt pitting the 64 best pool players in the world, including the top 16 in the WPA rankings.
Filipino-Canadian pool artist Alex Pagulayan (world No. 7) will join the tourney as well.
In an online interview with The Manila Times, De Luna said that they are all set to play as long as there will be no postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are already here in Vegas. All of the contingents are here. As of now, we are waiting for further notice but I will surely push through if there’s no cancellation,” said De Luna.
Meanwhile, the organizers said that the World 10-Ball Championship, which is part of the ongoing CueSports International Expo, will be held as planned.
“The event began as scheduled on Wednesday, March 11. Our members are enjoying the competition and there are no plans to cancel anything,” the CueSports International, Predator Group and WPA said in a joint statement.
