ZAMBOANGA CITY: Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar recently announced the suspension of the April 9 (Maundy Thursday) to 10 (Good Friday) Holy Week celebrations here, including the annual “Stations of the Cross” at Abong-Abong Park in Barangay Pasonanca in a bid to safeguard thousands of local Catholic parishioners against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the area.
Salazar earlier organized the Covid-19 Inter-agency Task Force to protect the faithful from the deadly disease.
