‘Idol Ph’s’ Miguel Odron now a recording artist

Former “Idol Philippines” contestant Miguel Odron is poised to introduce his unique sound with the release of his debut single under ABS-CBN Music International, titled “Chevy Cruze.” On February 28, it landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hongkong, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, as well as in countries in the Gulf region such as Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. His debut single was also featured on Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” and “Hot Tracks,” and on Anghami’s “New Pinoy” playlist.

The track is co-produced by Tarsier’s Records’ Devin Lopez a.k.a. Subzylla.

“I produced and wrote this from a very personal place so I hope fans will be able to sense the authenticity in it,” Odron shared. “It’s about having so much resentment, but you keep coming back, you keep getting in that car when it rolls up because you hope that things get better, you hope that things change but they never do.”

Fans were definitely thrilled when the song dropped upon its release and thrilled the former “Idol Philippines” contestant is back in the spotlight.

“I try to always write selfishly and purely from my own experiences and for my own tastes, so for the song to have resonated with complete strangers with totally different experiences is really such a strange but beautiful moment of connection,” Odron said.

Odron teased fans with the very first performance of Chevy Cruze on his debut concert alongside JMKO, Jeremy G, and Sam Mangubat. Titled “Song Feels,” it was held at the Music Museum on January 24.

The young artist first gained attention when he joined the first season of Idol Philippines and placed in the Top 5. Fans were drawn to his striking sound, which he attributes to a childhood of listening to unconventional singers such as Amy Winehouse and Nai Palm.

“I’ve always been drawn to nostalgic confabulation. I’m not old enough to have lived through the ‘70s, but I can try to tell you what I think that must have been like… That feeling often ends up injecting itself into my music,” he shared.

Odron is also active with gigs. Early this month, he performed at the “New Rules Live in Manila,” the British boy band’s first tour in the Philippines. His is also heard in the new ABS-CBN teleserye “Love Thy Woman” in the song “Each Day With You.”

Late last year, he did the opening number for the Manila show of Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer.

Odron is one of the fresh talents under ABS-CBN Music International, ABS-CBN’s music label that seeks to introduce the exceptional artistry of Filipinos to global audiences.

“Chevy Cruze” by Miguel Odron is available across various online music platforms.
