The government has ordered a nationwide price freeze on basic commodities for 60 days following President Rodrigo Duterte's declaration of a state of calamity in the Philippines due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a press briefing in Malacañang late Wednesday night, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the price freeze on basic commodities would be effective until May 15.
