P1.6M hoarded face masks seized in Manila

A total of P1.6 million worth of face masks were seized in Tondo, Manila, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Monday.

PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), in a report, identified the suspected hoarder as Willy Sy.

In an entrapment operation with Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (ATCU), Sy was arrested along Abad Santos at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Based on the report, the operation stemmed from complaints of alleged hoarding and overpriced selling of face masks in Manila.

Sy will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 7581 as amended by RA 10623 or the Price Act and RA 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, the report added.
