Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez 3rd has rejected a lawmaker’s call for the government to consider a moratorium on its debt payment to raise more funds amid the 2019 coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, calling it as ‘narrow-sighted’.

This comes after Senator Maria Imelda Josefa ‘Imee’ Marcos has urged the government to temporarily suspend its debt service payments and instead shift those funds for use in the country’s Covid-19 response.
