THE United States embassy in Manila has canceled all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa interviews scheduled through May 31 after the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was extended to May 15.
The quarantine was set to end on April 30, but President Rodrigo Duterte ordered an extension to allow the Department of Health and local government units to conduct mass testing for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
“We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time,” US embassy spokesman Heather Fabrikant said on Sunday.
Fabrikant said after the lifting of ECQ in Metro Manila, “all affected applicants should reschedule their visa interviews through the embassy call center at +632-77928988 or through the online appointment system at ustraveldocs.com/ph.
“There is no fee to change an appointment and visa application fees are valid for one year in the country where the fee was paid,” she added.
