Status of ABS-CBN a matter of law and state policy

THE ABS-CBN Corp. issue has been talked to death for so many months now that we are frankly puzzled why the network has not gotten a new franchise to operate from the 18th Congress, and that the gigantic network has now stopped broadcasting, following the expiration of its franchise on May 4.

The situation is puzzling because leaders from both houses of Congress have profusely professed their respective chamber’s readiness to renew the network’s franchise.
