As the world continues to suffer from the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis, countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (Asean) should work together to strengthen the region’s manufacturing base and make it less dependent on external markets, the top official of the local chapter of the Asean-India Business Council (AIBC) said.

“The coronavirus severely impacted growth and damages everywhere and Asean and India is also facing major economic crisis due to the pandemic’s impact on global value chains,” AIBC Country Chairman Johnny Chotrani said during the recently held Asean-India Trade and Value Chains in Covid-19 Era webinar.
