PROBABLY because neither Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd nor a recycled military man was doing the talking, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) delivered during the weekend highly positive and forward-looking policy news in the nation’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic, instead of just its usual prohibitory and scary talk.

On Saturday, Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr. announced that the task force has eased some quarantine restrictions to allow more businesses to resume full operations. Roque said the IATF-EID issued Resolution 38, which generally maintains restrictions in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ), but will ease some prohibitions in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
