Ex-whistleblower Mawanay nabbed over undelivered face masks worth P12M


FORMER whistleblower Antonio Luis Marquez alias Angelo “Ador” Mawanay was arrested for estafa in Pasig City, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Thursday.

Based on the report by the Philippine National Police – CIDG (PNP-CIDG), Mawanay, 47, was arrested along Chestnut Street, Greenwood  Subdivision on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Under operation Oplan Pagtugis, Mawanay was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ma. Consejo Gengos of Regional Trial Court-4th Judicial Region, Branch 100 in Antipolo City.


The warrant of arrest was dated June 27, 2017 with recommend bail of P40,000 for Mawanay’s temporary liberty.

The warrant stemmed from the complaint of a doctor that Mawanay did not provide the face masks he ordered after paying P12 million.

The suspect will be temporily detained at the Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU) of the CIDG, the report added.

Mawanay accused Sen. Panfilo Lacson of corruption and involvement in illegal drugs when he was PNP chief.
