BEIJING: China has slammed the United States for demanding a videoconference by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on national security legislation for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), calling the US demand “utter nonsense” and urging Washington to “immediately stop the meaningless political maneuvers.”

“This is utter nonsense and making trouble out of nothing,” Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a daily press briefing.
