Security officials on Sunday defended the approval of the bill for the new Anti-Terrorism Law amid growing fears and concerns that this would be weaponized against opposition and progressive groups and personalities.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana dismissed this possibility as he assured that the bill, which would repeal the Human Security Act of 2007, has safeguards of civil liberties and sanctions to law enforcement agencies.
