A time to listen and a time to learn

MY take on Hong Kong protest rallies: We all know that after the handover on July 1, 1997, the former British colony was granted the unique status of being a special autonomous region. The status was granted to administer a smooth transition.

I remember that I was part of the coverage team tasked to document the event and I witnessed the merriment of Hong Kong residents welcoming the return to Chinese authority. Business was so good and the city continued to boom as a major business hub and tourist destination in East Asia.
