TARLAC CITY: Believing that the business sector is the backbone of the economy, the city council passed a measure that will help rehabilitate micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), whose operations were severely affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
In a resolution, Councilor Ricky Diolazo, chairman of the committee on trade, commerce and industry, requested the city mayor to direct the City Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Officer (CCEDO) to fulfil the plan.
The CCEDO will formulate and recommend plans and programs intended to rehabilitate the MSMEs and other local business establishments affected by the health crisis especially during quarantine periods.
The resolution noted the council’s mandate under the Local Government Code of 1991 to provide relief services and assistance for victims during and in the aftermath of disasters and calamities and their return to productive livelihood.
It also recalled provisions of a city ordinance that provides assistance program to MSMEs such as the establishment of the needed environment and opportunities conducive to their growth and development and the formulation of a comprehensive plan for them.
