An attribute is a quality, characteristic or identifying label of a person, place or thing — like beauty or intelligence — that alludes to something quite inherent about them. A trait is an ingrained characteristic or habit that is usually difficult to learn or unlearn, like shyness or positive mental attitude. On the other hand, a skill is something that is taught or learned, like driving or carpentry.
