Weakening the rule of law

I WAS provoked by a post from a friend, who remains a diehard Duterte supporter, when he posted an image of a bridge project completed by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte side by side with that of an unfinished bridge during the administration of former president Benigno Aquino 3rd. This has been the recurring theme of the defense offered by the Duterte loyal base. The President may be crass and rude and  misogynistic, but he has made things happen. He produced results.

However, after four years in office, it behooves to ask what results are they talking about to make them believe that President Duterte is above all his predecessors. The infrastructure projects, like that bridge which my friend boasted of, that were touted through the Build, Build, Build initiative, remain in the pipeline. The drug problem remains, and the President himself admitted that his war on drugs is a failure. Corruption in government remains unabated.
