THE United States has officially moved to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO), thereby breaking ties with the global public health agency in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
A senior Trump administration official confirmed on Monday that the US has submitted its withdrawal notification to the United Nations secretary-general. Withdrawal requires a year’s notice, so it will not go into effect until July 6, 2021.
