CALAPAN in the island of Mindoro honored a native son on the occasion of the centenary of his birth in 2018. His name? Lt. Jose C. Gozar.
Born and raised in idyllic Calapan, Lt. Gozar, or Tio Pepe as he is fondly referred to nowadays by grateful kababayan, is Mindoro’s most decorated World War 2 hero.
