SSS funeral benefit claims now checkless

Funeral benefits from the Social Security System (SSS) will now be checkless and released through banks and other alternative payment channels.

In a statement, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said the state-run pension fund’s funeral benefit, a cash benefit granted to whoever paid for the funeral expenses of a deceased, is now released either through Philippine Electronic Fund Transfer System and Operations Network (PESONet) participating banks, e-wallets like PayMaya or remittance transfer companies/cash payout outlets (RTC/CPOs).
