OPPOSITION groups slammed a move by the government to ban rallies on July 27, 2020 during President Rodrigo Duterte’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), but which the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said was in accordance with health and quarantine protocols against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“We have the right to exercise our constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression and to peaceful assembly. Don’t be a coward, face the rage of the people,” Kabataan party-list said in a statement.
