CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: The provincial administrator (PA) of the province was confirmed infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the governor announced Sunday.

The building premises of the provincial local government has been placed indefinitely on a total lockdown for a thorough disinfection.

In a post on his social media page, Gov. Humerlito Dolor announced that his brother, city administrator Dr. Hubbert Dolor, is now Patient 2477 after results of his reverse transcription, polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test came out positive for Covid-19.

“As the father of the province and as a brother, it is with deep regret that I announce to you that the latest Covid-19-positive [patient] is our Provincial Administrator Dr. Hubbert Dolor. As one of the leading officials in our fight against Covid-19, it is not yet clear where he got the virus,” Dolor said.

Contact tracing is being undertaken by the Department of Health (DoH) Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, the governor added.

He said since he was one of those with direct contact with the administrator, he underwent a RT-PCR test on Sunday and tested negative. But, he is subjecting himself to a 14-day quarantine to ensure the safety of the people that he could come in contact with.

“Because of the numerous persons that PA Hubbert dealt with in the last few days, a massive contact tracing is being undertaken for all those who had 1) direct physical contact or 2) face-to-face contact within 1 meter and for more than 15 minutes from July 18 onward,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, DoH-Region 3 (Calabarzon) Director Eduardo Janairo on Friday announced a temporary physical closure of the regional office from July 27 to 31 because seven of its staff members were confirmed positive pf the coronavirus.

“Close contacts of those who were Covid-positive will undergo strict quarantine and isolation, as per requirement, to prevent its further spread. These measures shall be employed to ensure the health and safety of the employees and the public, as well,” he said.

Janairo added that all official communications shall be made through the DoH-Calabarzon official website and through email at [email protected].

“All staff will be on a work-from-home basis to continuously provide the necessary services needed,” he said.
