THE Department of Science and Technology (DoST) is highlighting innovations in responding to calamities amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic in celebration of National Disaster Resilience month.

“The Philippines is prone to various natural hazards. We’ve been affected by health and other emergencies. We’ve been severely impacted by many disasters in the past. But through Science, Technology and Innovation, we can actually reduce the possible impacts before the various threats would occur, be able to prepare for this and respond timely and appropriately before and during the events, and more importantly, we can quickly recover when impacts and disruptions happen,” DoST Undersecretary Renato Solidum Jr. said during a virtual presser on Thursday.
