Spot market prices dropped this month as Metro Manila was again put under stricter lockdown to arrest the rising number of coronavirus infections in the capital, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines Inc. (IEMOP) said on Tuesday.

In a report, IEMOP said average prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market for August reached P1.99 per kilowatt hour (kWh), lower than P2.08/kWh in July and P3.19/kWh in June.
