The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Wednesday that local manufacturers were producing more than 57 million face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) a month.

In a statement, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said DTI and the Board of Investments had encouraged manufacturers to repurpose some of their manufacturing capacity into producing PPEs and face masks so that the country would not depend heavily on imports.
