The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival’s first virtual Award Program this week saw “Tokwifi” as 2020’s big winner.
“Tokwifi” (pronounced “tok-wee-fee”) is a story about a 1950s mestiza star, trapped inside a television that falls from the sky, after which she dreams up a romantic romp with a Bontok Igorot man who does not know how to kiss. A truly original storyline that was ably and effectively executed, the short film took home the coveted Best Film award and the Netpac Jury Prize.
