OLYMPICS-bound pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena mounted the podium to receive the bronze medal in the 2020 International Association of Athletics Federation Diamond League in Monaco early on Saturday.
Obiena landed in third place when he registered 5.7 meters for his second and best attempt, compared to the gold-standard 6 meters of Swedish Armand Duplantis, currently ranked No. 1 in the world. The Filipino pole vaulter fell behind Belgian Ben Broeders, who posted 5.7 meters on his first attempt, claiming his piece of silver.
